Some hidden thoughts

I got an e-mail from a friend that made me laugh out loud in the office. Not good, but completely fitting.

A list of things people are thinking, but never say. You know when that happens. You are talking to someone, and have a thought going through your head but just can't say it.

I do, all the time. Must be proper in the office, must watch my words around the kids and MUST NOT piss off the family. It's true, we all know it.

So, I took some of my favorites and here we go...

There is a great need for sarcasm font.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.

Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft.

How the heck are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

A recent study has shown that playing beer pong contributes to the spread of mono and the flu. Yeah, if you suck at it.

Was learning cursive really necessary?

Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying.

How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?

I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!

While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it...thanks Mario Kart.

MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood. (oh man...I cut 1-5 out every time!)

Whenever I'm Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don't mind if I do!

If Carmen San Diego and Waldo ever got together, their offspring would probably just be completely invisible.

You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don't want to have to restart my collection. (I am so in on this one!!)

There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

"Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this ever.

I hate being the one with the remote in a room full of people watching TV. There's so much pressure. 'I love this show, but will they judge me if I keep it on? I bet everyone is wishing we weren't watching this. It's only a matter of time before they all get up and leave the room. Will we still be friends after this?'

I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Darnit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste. (Oh man...been there)

I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it's on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.

Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my a$$ everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time...

It really pisses me off when I want to read a story on CNN.com and the link takes me to a video instead of text.

I wonder if cops ever get pissed off at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit.

I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

Oh man, they are funny. Some are snorting-laugh out loud-everyone is looking at me crazy-funny. You got any other ones?

Mark-Paul Gosselaar was on Jimmy Fallon last week, and he WAS Zach Morris. It was hilarious.

Jimmy Fallon is trying to get a Saved By The Bell Reunion on his show, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar is in. That is one that I will be staying up for.

On the run

This weekend is pretty busy, so I wanted to write a quick note before we headed out for the crazy day!

Last night Boo and I babysat Mikayla. Poor thing is teething so bad, she is just plain miserable. I felt so bad, and gladly snuggled anyway she was comfortable. Boo fell asleep on the couch around 10, curled up in a little ball.

Today we have bowling, a girls night of sorts and house shopping. Yes...I said house shopping. Hubby and I are starting this process, and I am terrified! Excited, but terrified. Such a huge step for us, and we have worked so hard to get here.

Boo and Hunter qualified for their first ever bowling tournament. You have not seen excited until you saw my kids faces last weekend. Today I turn in the registration forms, and hopefully we get our first pick of weekends.

I have to get ready. Have a great weekend!!

So much to do, so little time

Well, the errands I was going to run tonight didn't happen. Snow did instead. After a hour drive to go 10 miles, I decided to stay home instead. My to-do list just got a ton longer.

- Figure out what to do with my hair before my appointment on Friday (dramatic changes people! I can't wait, but I am terrified too).
- Finish shopping...
-Start wrapping (I have three presents done, and a lot more to do).
- Get over this cold. I can't take a sick day this week.
- Back the day away with my sister. So much fun to be had!
- Make grocery list, so that I can majorly shop on Friday morning. We are getting bare here!
- Entertain Boo for 3 days...ugh!
- Clean the bathrooms and bedrooms.
- Do a ton of laundry.
- Start craft for gifts...yeah I said start. I am a bit behind. lol

So much to do in so little time! I know I will get it all done, but it just seems like a lot.

Bathroom - the final chapter

I realized this morning that I never showed you what our new floor looks like in the bathroom. You can see part 1 and 2 here and here.

The bathroom has been done for almost two weeks, and I LOVE the floor. It is much better than the nasty yellow we had before. The color is a gray/brown swirl pattern. The tile lays flat, so no stubbing toes here! The one downside is the doorway, they put in a ledge thing (no idea what it is called) and it is higher than before. There, I have stubbed my toe...twice.

The workers did a great job, and the mess was minimal. The only follow up we have to have the vents cleaned out, since there is some debris down one of them.

No longer do I worry about falling through the floor, yes I really worried about that. I am so glad that it is done. It only took two days, but it was a long two days of not having our upstairs bathroom.

Our 44th President

Tonight is a memorable night. Our 44th President has been elected, Barack Obama.

This is a monumentus event for our country.

A new path, new hope and new change for us all.

While we may not all agree with his politics, we are now turning to the path of joining together as one country. One force.

We each took the time today to vote for our choice. The lines that wrapped around polling locations brought tears to my eyes whenever I drove by.

As I slid my ballot into the counter, I held my breathe to remember the moment, the feelings and the place. I took part in this major day. I voiced my opinion, and made my vote heard.

As the number changed, from 662 to 663, I knew my vote counted. I knew my choice was heard. I knew, that no matter what happened tonight, I made a difference.

Now as we face tomorrow, and each day that follows we look to the future. We look to see the changes that both candidates spoke of.

Tonight I am honored to have taken part in such a huge day. I am proud to be a part of this country, with all it's opportunities and advantages.

I look forward to the days that come.

Did you know

Did you know that when the bolt that holds your toilet down rusts through, water will leak into your sub-floor?

Neither did I.

Or that it would leak into the kitchen ceiling and leave a water mark that started pealing.

But that is what we are dealing with. Thankfully we rent, so we don't have to pay for it, or really deal with it except for the mess.

Today they are coming to rip up the linoleum and the sub-floor. They will lay a new floor, and tomorrow come lay the new (yippee) linoleum. We will be without a toilet in that bathroom until Friday, but we have another bathroom, so that is fine. We will be able to use our shower tonight, but won't have a sink until Monday. That means...no using that toilet. Especially with all the nastiness that is going around.

I am excited about the new linoleum...look at that nasty yellow stained stuff! I have hated it for three years, since we moved here. I can't wait for that. The office swears the new stuff will be wonderful.

Hunter's room looks like a hurricane went through it. Since he has the most room, that is where everything is being stored. Poor guy.

So, I am off to close doors and make sure we have the room empty. It will be a interesting couple days.

6 Random things about you. I think I have done this before, but who knows and I can't find it.

1- I have a major addiction to Peanut Butter. It is one of the few things that I will eat all the time if I am allowed. Hubby actually has to give me limits on it.

2- I must crack the big toe on my right foot before I can fall asleep. It was broken when I was in high school, and ever since it is a strange habit.

3- I still have my girl scout patches and sashes from when I was in Kindergarten to 4th grade. They are all in a zip lock bag in my memory box.

4- I am a slight pack rat when it comes to memories. I don't want to throw anything out in case I might need it someday.

5- I have been stockpiling chapter books for Boo since she was two. I can see her not wanting to read Pippi Longstocking just because I have had it forever.

6- I can't wait for the rest of the fall season to start, because every year it starts the week of my birthday. I like to think the networks are telling me Happy Birthday!

I am leaving this wide open, because most of you have done this one recently, so I don't know if anyone would do it.

Run Run Run

The weekend was busy, depending on how you look at it.

Friday night we fried up (who needs arteries when it comes to fish) the fish Hubby brought home last week. Can I just tell you how wonderful that Walleye was!! I love walleye, but have never had fresh from the lake walleye, at least not that I remember. It was wonderful. My niece even liked it, after she claimed she hated fish and would never eat it.

Saturday was a wonderful card making party at Katie's. Big sis came along, and she even had a good time. I got to see Katie and Andi, my weekend was complete. The cards were fun, and even a little challenging...well for me since I didn't really look at the sample first. Smart...I will try to post pictures of the fabulous cards this week.

Yesterday was the Baptism for MJ. It is hard to remember her as her 1 lb 9 oz, especially since she blows everyone away every day. She is our rock star.

This week will be spent getting the last of school stuff, cleaning and maybe...just maybe getting my ears to clear up. I can't hear a thing, which hubby thinks is hilarious. At least twice a year...it never fails. I swear I am almost 29, not 5.

Welcome Sonic and More!

There are two Sonics opening near us this summer. One of them opened recently, and people were waiting 3 HOURS!

There is one closer to us opening in August, and I don't think we will go until September...I don't think I can wait that long for food...not such much.

Not only are there finally Sonics here...but guess what they are opening in the Mall of America...

An American Girls Store!! I am excited about this one. My mom says I still can't have the Samantha Doll I always wanted...but maybe I can wear her down by Christmas..yeah right.

Boo has been drooling over the catalog for two years, and tells me time and again that one day she will have a doll. We shall see. They are pricey...

Savings

Again...brain is mush.

Today was spent at doctor appointments, grocery shopping, learning how to make the BEST potato salad EVER and making rhubarb crisp. Plus we have friends in town for the holidays, and we getting ready for the cabin.

MUSH!!!

But, I do want to share something. Today at the grocery store I saved a TON of money. I went to both our local grocery stores, because one store had some things on sale, and the other had the rest of it. So, I spent $95, which isn't a lot (unless you count the fact that 90% of it was for one weekend, not even a full week), and saved...

Are you ready???

$55!!! That is right...$55!!! One store had double coupon day, and while you can only use up to 6, I milked that for ALL IT WAS WORTH! I saved $20 there between the coupons and the in store sales. The other store had the higher priced items (soda and hamburger). Everything I bought was on sale, except for one thing.

I was amazed! I wasn't prepared for it to be such a savings, but I am not going to argue with it!

um...What?

I am sitting here trying to figure out what in the world to write about.

Do I talk about the strange questions Boo has been asking me? Or about how I somehow got sweet talked into getting her a Camp Rock t-shirt the day after she saw it the first time (big SUCKER sign on my head

How about the fact that Hunter is bringing a friend to the cabin for the VERY FIRST TIME this weekend (that is major for us)? Or about how he is having the best summer outside everyday?

I have NO CLUE!! I am having blogging brain issues.

The lists for this weekend and next week are coming out of my ears and warping what I want to write into slop.

I am not proud, but I must pawn a picture of Boo with her baseball medal and certificate.

Here I am!!

Boo has been pretty sick this past weekend, so we didn't do much including blogging. I wasn't even on the computer at all on Sunday. It was lovely.

Tales will follow soon, once I get caught up on everything that fell to the wayside (I doubt sleep will be included though...4 hours sleep = punchy mommy!!)

One Song, Glory

11 years ago I changed high schools, and was opened to an entire new experience. Students sang in the lounge areas, dancers were warming up in the hall, and musicians played in the grass. It was a time I wouldn't replace for anything. It is where I met Brooke on the first day of school, and where I found so many people that I will soon see.

It is also where I was first exposed to RENT. This musical is so powerful and so touching. I had never seen it...

Until last night.

All I can say is WOW. I was moved in a way that I hadn't been before. I have seen The Lion King, Phantom (he is with us he is with us he is HERE!) and Les Miserable (let's all sing Castle on a Cloud...)and this was something so different. I cried the entire second half, and didn't try to hide it.

The issues that are touched on it RENT are something that has lost it news worthy status in the past 10 years. No longer are people talking about the AIDS epidemic or the mass amounts of homeless in cities. They have taken a back seat to war and economic hard times around the country. The newest generation doesn't connect with RENT the same way my age does. I can connect with each song in some way, through experience and knowledge.

RENT is going off Broadway in September 7, 2008. From what I understand, this is the last tour. On September 7th, it will be about the 5,000 show on Broadway for RENT, making it one of the longest running shows to date.

I have to talk about the cast. There was one American Idol finalist, and one South African Idol winner in the tour cast.

Heinz Winckler won the first South African Idol. He placed 4th in the World Idol contest as well. He has an album out, and was AMAZING. He played Roger, the musician who falls in love with Mimi. I love the character of Roger, maybe it has to do with the musician bad boy thing he has going on.

Plus, Adam Pascal is one of my favorites (from the original recording and the movie).

The American Idol finalist was a favorite in Season 4. Anwar Robinson was the music teacher that placed 7th that year. I was disappointed when he was sent home, but loved him tonight! He played Tom Collins, who falls in love with Angel. He was able to belt out I'll Cover You and brought tears to my eyes (again).

The entire cast was incredible. While nothing is quite the same as the original cast, this tour cast is one that I was impressed with.

Tonight I am off to see a show with Big Sis, Mom and our fabulous friend.

What show you may ask? Well, I am not going to tell you! I know, so mean.

Blast from the past

Growing up, we had a strict schedule on Wednesday nights. Church class, rush home for Doogie Howser and then Beverly Hills 90210.

I spent many Wednesday nights watching 90210. I loved Kelly, and hated Brenda (I was glad when she left the show). I cried when Kelly was burned in the fire, yelled when Ray threw Donna down the stairs and cried when Donna and David finally got married.

The reason for this blast from the past? Last week I was looking around at CBS and found that you can watch Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, Family Ties and more online!

Most nights and I am sitting right here blogging away, or reading another blog. But, tonight I am also watching some Family Ties, and Season 3 of 90210. So fun to look at clothes and remember all of it!

Movie time

Boo is so excited about Camp Rock...she talks about it all the time. It airs June 20th, and she is begging me to watch it. That is the weekend Hubby might be camping with the boys, so we just might have to watch it.

I don't even know if she is excited about the Jonas Brothers, or just another Disney Movie.

I have a hard time getting into some of the tv movies that come out, but Disney ones seem to the ones my kids can watch.

Hunter liked Tiger Cruise and went through his Kim Possible phase too. Boo is still enthralled with HSM and Jump In. She never got into Cheetah Girls, but loves the cd's (It won't be the same without Raven...or Whitney Houston producing). She likes to watch Wendy Wu and Cadet Kelly, because "They aren't silly girls" (she cracks me up).

Meeting a blogger

This past weekend was busy, but I was able to take a couple hours and meet a fellow blogger.

Iowa Geek is one of my favorites. We both are frugal, deal seekers and garage sale junkies.

She lives in Iowa (duh) and was up in Minnesota for the weekend. We scheduled to meet at Ikea, and have a little while to chat. I had never met a fellow blogger before, so I was excited and nervous at the same time. It was like the feeling when you start a new school...what if they don't like me!

She is wonderful! Her girls are gorgeous and her husband is great. Boo took to her oldest right away, and they walked around holding hands most of the time.

We had time to chat, get to know each other a little bit. When you read a person's blog you have a feeling of knowing them. But, as I walking around looking for her, I realized I didn't know her face, but would know her kids faces. That is how I found her.

I had a great time meeting Iowa Geek, and hope we can do it the next time she comes up!

Oy

After a chaotic weekend, I do not have the strength to do much. The house is finally quiet, and I can't to lay down and just listen to it.

We had garage sales, swimming, friends visiting and meeting new friends. It was a busy busy weekend. I will post more later, right now I am going to crash.

Oh My...

I had a post all written out, but something came on the tv tonight that must be talked about.

I received a text message tonight telling me that one of the guys I hung out with in High School was on tv...not just any old show either. He was on...The Bachelorette...

I have to say it made me laugh, because he had girls falling over him in high school, and he was one of the nicest guys I had ever met.

I wish him luck, and no I will not tell you which one he is...unless you ask nice.
