You Capture - Feel

It its another week of You Capture hosted by Beth at I Should be Folding Laundry. This weeks theme: Feel

I was at a loss for this weeks assignment. I had no idea what to take pictures of, and didn't have a lot of time to take pictures either. As I looked at the few of this past week, I have two that bring up the most feelings, both frustration and joy.

First, we have the front of our house. With the road work that is taking place, there seems to be stuff everywhere. And our house, seems to be the dumping ground for all things concrete.

At first I was frustrated, it is simply not pretty. But then Boo said "Oh Mom...they must be so sad being dumped there". Then I felt less frustration and more in awe of my daughter.

Next we have the first time Boo is going through the sprinkler, I think ever. We set it up on Sunday and she had the best time. It made me think of all the times we would go through the sprinkler, down the slip'n'slide and even to the local pool as kids. So much joy comes from those memories.

Plus, hearing Boo scream because it was so cold was a bonus!

You Capture - Family

It is time for another week of You Capture hosted by the wonderful Beth at I Should be Folding Laundry. I have been MIA the past two weeks, and I was ready to jump back in.

This weeks theme (sound so much better than assignment I think): FAMILY

Family can mean so many different things, but to me it is 5 huge things.

Support

Tradition (the Shoe Tree at the cabin, years and years of many peoples shoes):

Comfort:

Strength (Hey Hunter, which way is the gun show?):

Humor:

And most importantly Love:

You Capture - Joy

It is time for another week of You Capture hosted by Beth at I Should be Folding Laundry. This weeks assignment: Joy.

I think this is one of my favorites so far. Joy is everywhere you turn, whether you look at the blooming flowers, the birds loud and happy or the kids outside after a long hard winter.

We took some friends fishing on Tuesday, and that was pure joy for everyone. Ebony had never been fishing before, so he was the most excited. He sat and watched the water, just waiting for something to happen.

His brother on the other hand, had oodles of fun in the minnow bucket. I don't think he damaged any, but a couple may be traumatized.

Boo, being her normal crazy self, was playing Superman on the swing. A long running start would allow for much more air time.

It was a great day fishing, the kids and parents had a blast. I loved going through these pictures, so many happy faces. It was hard to pick just a couple!

You Capture - Rustic

Time for another week of You Capture hosted by Beth at I Should be Folding Laundry. This weeks assignment: Rustic.

We spent Easter day at my Dad's in a farm populated area. I knew having my camera handy would pan out, at least until my camera died. Lovely.

Here are the two shots I got before that happened.

Here is Dad's tractor. I love the colors on it, and the lingering dirt from his last chore add to the character.

Hay bales always mean old farm land to me. When we were leaving the stables, I had to snap a couple pictures. This one turned out the best.

You Capture - Fun

It is time for another week of You Capture hosted by Beth from I Should be Folding Laundry.

This weeks assignment, FUN!

You would think that I would have a ton of pictures from my road trip, but except for maybe 6 the rest are of the concert.

So, here we have Boo's recital rehearsal. She is doing two dances again this year, and this is from her jazz dance. And as you can tell, not everyone was on the same page...

Next is my Malia. This was taken in the car on the way to Iowa, all of us a bit crazy at this point. She stopped and posed mid-song, giggling the entire time.

You Capture - Spring

It is time for another week of You Capture, hosted by Beth at I Should Be Folding Laundry.

This weeks assignment was "Spring". I laughed a bit when I read that, especially since we got snow and nastiness this week. But, before that all came in there was a lone icicle hanging from a tree. I got to it before the kids did, which is no easy feet!

Only one shot this week, things were a bit chaotic. But I love the one I got!

Next weeks challenge..."FUN".

You Capture - Reflection

It is time for another week of You Capture, on it's new day Thursday! This weeks assignment was Reflection.

To me, reflection was looking in the mirror, so I made myself take a step out of my comfort zone and look at other ways to reflect. Water, glass, mirrors and shadow. I took some fun pictures, but these three are my favorite.

First up is a goofy one of Boo. Give her a mirror and she will go crazy. I love her sticking her tongue out at herself...or maybe it is me.

Here is another one of Boo, but she got distracted by the rainbow of marker stains on her hands. I love the one eye in the mirror, simple and still so focused.

This last one was taken at a house we looked at this weekend. There was a pool of water on a concrete slab, and the railing looked amazing bouncing off the water.

You Capture - Texture

Last week I missed You Capture due to my mini bloggy vacation, but today I am back!

This past weekend Boo, Ma and I went to the local Home and Garden show to get inspiration for this summer. I haven't had a garden since living at my parents house, and I seem to kill all plant life inside. Hopefully this will be a better choice for me!

While walking through the many gardens they had on display I found this wonderful river rock display. The colors are amazing at the texture is great.

Then I remembered this weeks assignment, Texture!!

I loved the layout of the rocks, with the different colors on the sides. There are some slight rises and falls on the path as well. I don't know if they wanted this to be a walking path, or simply for decoration. I just couldn't resist snapping a shot!

You Capture - Love without a flash

This week is the first week of the You Capture carnival hosted by Beth at I Should be Folding Laundry.

Each week Beth will give us an assignment (her word, not mine) and we will all link up to display our photography achievements.

This week, the assignment was simple:

All I want you to do is pick up your camera and take a picture of something that
you love. It can be a rock or your kitchen sink or your child’s toes, just
capture it. Oh and since it’s supposed to be a challenge, try to do it
WITHOUT your flash…

My picture is a gorgeous pine tree, just after we got about 5 inches of snow. I love how the snow hangs, weighing down each branch.

Now, head on over to I Should be Folding Laundry to see more great You Capture posts.
