The Hair...

There are days, where it is a good thing that Boo is so darn sweet and honest. She doesn't lie often (if I said never that would be a HUGE LIE), and is polite to everyone she meets. She is willing to play with any child that she comes across, and isn't to concerned with her appearance (and there are some in her grade).

To concerned...

Now, yesterday I asked you a question. The answers that came in were...well..

True.

Boo has cut her hair.

Nothing majorly dramatic, but enough that she now has...bangs. I detest bangs. With a passion. But hers are starting to grow on me a little...and I do mean a little at this point.

It doesn't look bad but...

She also has a wing...on the left side of her head. She could almost fly away.
When I asked her why she did it, she wanted bangs. Lordy.

This is not the first time Boo has done this. She did it once when she was three. She cut one of her pig tails, and about half the hair got cut. We had a friend, who is a stylist, come over to make it as even as possible so she wouldn't look completely crazy for daycare the next day.

This time, she is six. So we had a serious conversation, and took a trip for a hair cut. Before that hair cut (and no I didn't get any before pictures. ), she had bangs on one side of her forehead, and it took 4 barrettes to keep the wing back. Not cute.

So now, she has full wispy bangs, and a wing on the left side of her head. It still takes two barrettes to hold back the wing, and we can pin back the bangs if I am in the mood.

I am thankful that she only cut some bangs. She could do like I did when I was her age, and look like this

It was the summer after second grade when I hacked off half my hair, and this was the result. My mom loved it, but me not so much.

So all in all, Boo didn't do to bad, but it was still a minor shock to see the long strands of hair on the bathroom floor.

Memories

When I moved out of my mom's house, she gave me a box of pictures and other memories. I have never really gone through it, but tonight I couldn't sleep (again) so I started looking.

There are a ton of pictures. Hopefully next week I will be back on track for Sincerely Fro me to you. I am really trying here. There are pictures from church camp, dance class and cute me as a baby. I didn't go through each picture, but will with Boo this weekend.

I found the program from the Boys II Men concert that I went to with her long ago, and our dance competition shirt..."Ooh Ahh!" hehe

There are journals (one for 2nd grade...even then I was a boy crazy kid), notes and school pictures. Really, if I hadn't cut my own hair when I was little I would not have had a awful haircut. My own fault, but WOW.

I found song lyrics, poems (one about a guitar that I have no idea where it came from) and newspaper articles. There are things in this box I haven't thought of for so long. So, until I get really exhausted we are going to weed on through. It is so fun.

I just read a letter from my junior high best friend, and actually cried. She moved after 8th grade, and that was a hard thing for a 13 year old to deal with.

I spent a couple long weekends up at her new house, and she came down to visit a couple times too. I met some great people up at her house that I wrote for a while, and those letters are here too.

It is so fun to think back to then. To remember the emotions involved. They are great, but also terrify me. It makes me nervous for when Boo gets a little older. The changes in emotions, how quickly and without warning.

I am (hopefully) jumping the gun on that, since she is only going into 1st grade, but it is something every mom thinks about I am sure.

I am off to the box. I will have stories tomorrow I am sure, and maybe some excerpts.

Sincerely Fro Me to You - Gala

Time for another edition of Sincerely Fro me to You, hosted by We are THAT Family.

This week, in honor of my high school reunion, we are going to look back at Gala my senior year. We didn't have prom...it was called Gala. No clue why, it just was.

My friend Brooke and I decided to go stag to Gala senior year. We had gotten so close, and at our school dates were more abnormal that normal. Brooke to my house early evening, and we took pictures...of course. (Like the lovely sky line my brother painted in the background...)

I had borrowed a fabulous dress from another friend, and had done my short hair in wonderful curls. I got my nails done, my toes done and took great care getting ready.

We went and had dinner at Ruby Tuesdays where I worked, and got to show off our attire. One of my co-workers was leaving, and so I took some fun pictures with him, since I wouldn't work with him again before he left (and he loved it!). After a wonderful dinner, off we went to Gala!





We spent the night dancing, laughing and having the best time. Afterwards we went to Brooke's with Josh, Lily and Nick. We laughed until the wee hours of the morning, and didn't get up until almost noon the next day.

Thank you Brooke for the best Gala EVER!!!

Sincerely Fro Me To You - Hubby

With Father's Day this weekend, I wanted to do a post or two about Hubby. He is such a wonderful dad, and I don't talk about him nearly enough. He has the patience of a saint and can get down and play Legos with Boo, or games with Hunter. He loves those kids, and that makes me love him more and more. He will run around the playground like a little kid, play catch until the sun goes down and drag me out camping because the kids want to go.

Here is a picture from a park in 2004. He and Boo jumped from one thing to another all afternoon. She is such a Daddy's girl!

He is also a wonderful husband. Who else would sit through a boring enthralling awards banquet when he doesn't know many people. He puts up with me and my crazy quirky habits. He turns into my Drill Sergeant when I need it, and gives me extra love when I have had a rough day.

Sincerely Fro Me to You - Boo edition

It is time for Sincerely Fro Me to You hosted by We Are THAT Family.

I was going through a disk this past weekend, and found some great pictures of Boo when she was little...well littler. I found a couple pictures that made me "awwwww" and I had to share them.

My sister's birthday was a big deal the year that Boo was born. We had a massive dinner at a German restaurant, and Boo was there in style. She had her first tasting of kraut and cabbage (things Mom can't handle, but Dad loves). She gummed it all, and loved it (the strange child...). She was getting a bit antsy towards the end of dinner, so out came the toys. She had one frog that she always played with (and is in her keepsake box), and that was the first thing set down. The look on her face is priceless!

"Oh Mr. Frog...what do you think you are doing..."

Next, Boo was almost 9 months old when Halloween rolled around. And surpise suprise...she had a double ear infection. The poor kid couldn't get a break. Oh, and just a note...two weeks later she had tubes put in and went 2 years without an ear infection!

My Dad and Big Sis wanted to see her, costume and all. She was the cutest little cow, even though she tried to rip the tail off and wouldn't wear her hat. Oh, and that year, Hunter was a cowboy...

She was in a total Mommy mood, and nothing would make her happy but Mommy's arms. So we spent most of the day snuggled up.

"Moooooommmmm...give me my baby cow"

When Boo was about 10 months old, we took her to the Holidazzle Parade. The lights and sounds are amazing, and Boo was enthralled.

I had finally taught her how to give kisses, and had to show her off a little.

"I wuv you Mommy...MUAH!"

That was a great night! It only took three tries to get the picture, but who could complain about that! Look at how cute she is.

Sincerely Fro Me to you - Mickey Mouse Edition

It is time again for Sincerely Fro Me To You, hosted by We are THAT Family.

With all the dance recitals, rehearsals and pictures, I thought I would go back to one the favorite costumes of my youth! Well, two favorite if you must know. I think* I was about 7 or 8...but I am not sure. (Mom couldn't be reached for confirmation...)

One year in dance class we had a Mickey Mouse theme...but it was great. We did "Mickey" sung by Toni Basil. We had cute cheerleader skirts and pom-poms.

*Let's look at my bruised up knees...do I really wonder where my child gets it??? (If you want a cringe moment...check that out!!)



We also danced to Mickey Mouse's Birthday Party, a fun song that I can't find the lyrics too. This costume was fun and bright. I love the hat! We used little white stools too.



My best friend from elementary school/middle school was in the class with me. I love looking at all of our old dance pictures, it brings the memories back. We always had such a great time.

Sincerely Fro Me to you - TGI Fridays

It is time for another edition of Sincerely Fro Me to You hosted by We are THAT Family.


Today we are going back 8 years, to my time at TGI Friday's.

I spent almost three years working at TGI Fridays, and it was a blast from day one. The atmosphere, and people and the events made it a great place to work when I was 19. I started as a door hostess, became the lead hostess, then a closing server. A closing server is the one that starts and ends each shift, and makes the best money. Even after I stopped working there, I had great friends, and some even came to our wedding.

I loved getting ready for work, even putting on my flare...and yes we did have a minimum amount you had to wear. I had buttons from past sports and dance classes, sport teams, drinks and key chains. It was a blast. I would wear skirts with funky tights, and baseball caps or bandannas.

This picture was taken the day of the first pre-season game for the Minnesota Vikings. I was the Viking Angel (hence the wings).

Sincerely Fro Me to you - Wolf Ridge

This is the first week of Sincerely Fro Me to You, a new carnival hosted by We Are THAT Family.

Today we are going back to 5th grade. This was the year that our class went to Wolf Ridge (ELC). It was such a good time! Rock Walls, Zip Line Courses, winter hikes, and winter survival (I could make a fire in the snow!).

The Rock Wall was great, but I have a slight fear of heights. My Dad was up with us that first year, and he had to get me down...meaning climbing up there and getting me down. I never went that high again!

But, did you know that if you dissect an owl pellet, you can put an entire animal skeleton together. That is a fact you never needed to know...but how fun was it to do.
