13

Today Hunter turns 13. My little man, my partner in crime.

13

I just have a hard time believing it has been that long, that he is that old.

I love this kid, more than you could ever imagine. He gave me the hardest job in the world, being a step-mom.

I love you Hunter. I can't get the word out to express to you the impact you have had in my life.

Below is my favorite video of him from this past summer. I know I have posted it before, but it makes me laugh every time.

HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY HUNTER!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!

Birthdays, squeals and fondant

The party is over, thank goodness. Every year it simply wears me out to the point of taking a nap. The prep, the cakes, the PEOPLE. Oh the people. One year I wish we could just do the four of us...but that is SO not happening. Pipe dreams...

The cakes were great. Some flaws, like the fondant being a bit to thick and people just not getting the idea (not my flaw...theirs). But the hard work was worth it.

Hunter said this was a very "sweet cake". I was going to do some flames on the slide, but couldn't get it to work, so I put his stats from the past year at bowling. (click to enlarge) He had such a huge year that this was perfect.

Boo's was her "gift". I wanted to make it something that was special, because it was HUGE gift for her. It was sort of her ticket...

After opening gifts, the kids got their cakes. We gave Boo her card, and then called her to come to the table. The joy that follows I will never forget, ever. The high pitched voice...the happiness...the excitement that flows from her is perfect.

The kids had a great birthday party. The enjoyed having the family and friends around them. The loved having their cousins there, the laughter and yells that came from the bedrooms can attest to that.

I love making a big deal about birthdays, any holiday that I can really, but birthdays especially. From what the kids tell me this one was a winner!

Hunter

My house is too quiet right now. I am minus a person. One that made enough noise to fill the void I forget is there, one I have worked hard to plug when he is gone.

Hunter went home tonight.

After two months of being with us he has gone back to his Mom's house.

It flat out sucks.

No one that I know understands what I am feeling right now. You wouldn't unless you were in my shoes.

I have to give him back each time.

I have to love, nurture and care for him. Then give him back.

It hurts each time.

No matter what happens, no matter what we deal with.

It hurts.

It will take me a couple days to not seek him out. I am sure I will walk into his room tomorrow to wake him up.

I know I will be looking for him when I get home.

Man this sucks.

So, I wanted to share this video of Hunter. I shot it a few weeks ago in our backyard. This is after he gave me a heart attack...or 20...by doing this. Now it's normal and I ask him to do it. For some reason that just seems wrong. lol

As in...to shank

Tonight I got home from work to see the kids (and hubby) out enjoying the wonderful weather. I hated to tear Boo away from it, but shower time called. She headed up, and I followed (problems with getting ALL the shampoo out)

Once she was done and dressed in clean (and matching) clothes, we headed back down to dry her hair. It takes a while even though it is short, she has a TON of hair.

As I put her into a loving headlock, my nail caught her cheek. Tears followed rather quickly, so I knew that it had hurt. There was a dent in her cheek (matching the hockey stick skid mark on the other side...groan)and it was bright red.

Then, all she said was...

"Mom...You shanked me with your nail"

I looked at her, and LAUGHED SO HARD! I think Big Sis and I might be quoting that commercial to much...

The cheek was fine shortly after, but this story will make me giggle for some time I think.

It is that time...

It is officially the holiday season for a couple reasons. Target and Wal-Mart have all the Christmas stuff out, I got the Toy Catalog for Target, Wal-Mart and Toys R Us and lastly...I saw my first Christmas Commercial of the year. And, it is one of my favorites. Who doesn't love the Carol of the Bells?

How many shopping days left? Don't remind me!!

Very exciting!

Today was a very exciting day in our house.

It started out with nothing out of the normal, laying around, watching movies and snuggling up with Boo. I wasn't feeling the greatest, so I wasn't up for much. Hubby was off watching NASCAR, so it was Boo and me hanging out.

I promised Boo that after I watched Reign Over Me (such a good movie), we could go outside so she could ride the scooter (she can only ride it if we are outside, not just her brother).

She helmeted up, and off she went. She wiped out once pretty big (note the big band aid...), but got right back on.

After a while, she asked the question...

"Mom can we work on my bike?"

Um...OK. Usually hubby is home for this, since he does it better, and I work the camera better. But sure, let's have a go. So the first time out, I held on to her seat, and kept reminding her to look up, go straight and don't stop peddling (Thanks Iowa Mom!!!)

After the first run, she fell, but wanted to try again right away. She got going, and I just let go!!

And away she went!!

So at the end she hits the curb, but look at her go! She is even taking turns and starting on her own.

Rock on Boo!!! I am so proud of you.

Now she wants to go back outside....I have created a monster!

Step One

Oh my goodness...

Who saw it? Or taped it? Or watched it online? Who will actually admit they sang along??

New Kids on the Block performed this morning on the NBC Today Show for the first time in 15 years. They performed a montage of old songs, and their new single "Summertime".

I loved New Kids on the Block when I was younger, and went to one of their concerts at the State Fair. Watching these videos, and seeing all the "childhood" fans that came out, in the rain was incredible. I almost couldn't believe what I was watching.

I am not quite sure how I feel about the comeback yet...we will have to wait and see.

This is Thriller...

Everytime I see this commercial, I have to laugh. When I was 19 I danced to Thriller, and it was AMAZING!! We even had someone in the red jacket. It was great.

But this, this is just plain funny. The lizards make me laugh...
